Gut Health

.

Symptoms like diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gas, reflux, nausea, gallstones, and stomach pain are all obvious signs of poor gut health.

But problems with gut health can lead to some surprising symptoms that you might not immediately associate with your digestive system:

  • Joint pain
  • Allergies
  • Food sensitivities
  • Cravings
  • Mood issues
  • Skin issues like acne, eczema, and psoriasis
  • Acute inflammation
  • Chronic inflammation like arthritis
  • Obesity-related metabolic diseases like fatty liver, type II diabetes, heart disease
  • Autoimmune diseases like lupus, multiple sclerosis, type I diabetes, Hashimoto’s and more
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Propensity toward weight gain or obesity

“So fine, I’ll take a probiotic,” you say. It may help a little, but in reality, taking a probiotic is like dropping an ant into a rainforest. Most probiotics offer only a short-term benefit. Many are destroyed by stomach acid and don’t make it to the intestine to do any good.

I teach my clients about the fundamentals of good gut health, which I believe are:

  • Repairing a leaky gut
  • Encouraging bacterial diversity, and
  • Increasing bile flow

I help them make small, but consistent changes that can make a huge difference in gut health.
