Nutrition Counseling
One of my mentors was asked “describe what you do in one word.” His answer?
“Troubleshooting. I troubleshoot humans.”
I love it, and I think it totally exemplifies the integrative and functional medicine approach to attaining and maintaining health.
I’m a “why” type of person, and am interested in getting to the root cause of health issues. I focus on getting bodies to function optimally, and I teach people how to make food and lifestyle choices that support human physiology, as opposed to eating what is merely edible. My recommendations are based on research, physiology, cultural/ historical context, individual needs, and common sense! I will have you questioning mainstream health beliefs that have been holding you back.
My expertise includes healthy weight management, thyroid health, fertility, digestive health, pre-natal/post-natal nutrition, and prevention and management of chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
I offer nutrition counseling both in-person and via phone/video. In-person consultations are at my office in Frederick, MD. Initial appointments are 60-90 minutes, and follow-up appointments are 30-45 minutes.
The initial consultation is devoted mostly to collecting information and coming up with a plan. Follow-up consultations provide support, accountability, and allow for ongoing nutrition education. We will go over your progress with your list of goals from the first session and troubleshoot and/or fine-tune.
I work with clients for at least three months. I don’t do “one and done” sessions because honestly, they don’t work. It’s a waste of your time and money. Healing takes time. So does developing new habits, letting go of old ones, and trusting the process. I want to work in a way that creates lasting results and this is the best method I have found.
