Hello! There's a real person here. I’m Nicole Ho Hello! There's a real person here. I’m Nicole Holovach, registered dietitian and owner of Whole Health RD. I’ve run my nutrition counseling business for over a decade. I’ve been counseling people on nutrition for 13 years and I’ve been studying nutrition for 27 years - more if you count my interest in nutrition in high school!

I was a nutrition writer and researcher before I started my private practice. My own health decline in my late 20s made me more interested in functional nutrition and digging deeper to identify the root causes of my Hashimoto’s and endometriosis, instead of just managing the symptoms.

In my journey, both personal and professional, I've come to realize that everything is connected to metabolic health: the body's ability to process and use energy efficiently.

I'm licensed in Maryland to practice medical nutrition therapy, meaning I can give a nutrition-based treatment plan to manage or treat specific health conditions and diseases. 

I find myself talking a lot lately with clients about stress, nervous system regulation, circadian rhythm regulation, doing less, and sleep, just as much as I talk about food and nutrition.

I have a 33-acre farm with cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, and bees. My husband runs a farm food delivery business @PurifyingPastures. We have three kids (12, 10, and 7) who like to cook and they still like to PLAY. I’m grateful for that. 

I like to walk, hike, and read, I lead a Girl Scout troop, and I do CrossFit. It took me years of nourishing myself to take on the challenge of CrossFit. I'd love to learn an instrument, sing more, and learn more about dog training. We have an Australian Shepherd and a Great Pyrenees.

I'm an INFP if you resonate with that kind of stuff. I do. Studying myself - my strengths, my weaknesses - helped me figure out that I am good at big picture thinking and counseling, leading me here.

I could eat tacos everyday for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy.

I saw someone post about this and I love the idea! I saw someone post about this and I love the idea! A "Bliss List" is a list of simple things that you can do in the moment when you're stressed and overwhelmed. These are things you know work for you. Post your Bliss List somewhere and refer to it as needed!

Because I know I'm going to get asked...I just google "sound frequencies for stress" and play them in the background. Maybe placebo, but I find them extremely calming!

Studies have shown that naturally thin people host different gut bacteria compared to those who are overweight. When the microbiota from lean individuals is transferred to those with obesity or excess weight, it can lead to changes in body weight. This may be because certain gut microbes are more efficient at breaking down and extracting calories from specific foods than others.

I've had an InBody body composition scale in my of I've had an InBody body composition scale in my office for years. InBody uses bioelectrical impedance analysis to measure body composition. But when CrowdHealth, my family's health sharing plan, offered a DEXA scan as a Q1 benefit, I jumped at the opportunity! 

DEXA not only measures body fat, visceral fat, and muscle mass, but it also gives you valuable information about your bones! And, as much as I love my inBody scale, DEXA is the gold standard for accuracy. Unlike the inBody, there's very little prep with a DEXA scan. Proper prep for an inBody scan can affect the accuracy.

The closest DEXA scan location is at the National Sports Medicine Institute in Leesburg, so my husband and I made a date out of it and went out to lunch afterwards.

I learned I have excellent bone mineral density 🎉 And I have a new goal to work toward: I'd like to improve my relative skeletal muscle index (RSMI), a new-to-me measurement of how much lean mass I have in my arms and legs in reference to my height.
